STN DBS frequency effects on freezing of gait in advanced Parkinson disease
This paper addresses whether or not Parkinson disease patients that have experienced severe gait disorders and frequent freezing episodes several years after STN stimulation (130 Hz, high voltages >3.5V) may benefit from alternate applications of STN treatment. The authors demonstrate that severe gait disorders in such patients can be relieved by using a new STN stimulation combination (60 Hz, high voltages ≈ 5V).
