NIHR01NS094037 09/15/17-09/30/22 5.0 calendar months NIH/NINDS $514,422 Aggressive Antipyretics for fever Control in CNS Malaria: A Randomized Controlled Trial Assessing Antipyretic Efficacy and Parasite Clearance This RCT being conducted in Zambia and Malawi will evaluate proof-of-concept for fever control in CNS malaria. Higher maximum temperature is a predictor of adverse neurologic outcome and the follow-up study if this one is successful will be a definitive Phase III neuroprotective clinical trial. Role: PI NIHR01NS094037 09/15/15-09/30/20 2.4 calendar months NIH/NINDS/FIC $446,666 Cohort of HIV-Associated Seizures and Epilepsy in Zambia (CHASE): Scale up and expansion informed by R21 Findings This prospective cohort study will include adults and children from rural and urban populations to determine the etiology of new onset seizure in people with HIV as well as the risk of recurrent seizure and death.
