Nine of the 15 demonstrated accompanying petechial hemorrhages restricted to the cortical or corticosubcortical regions. No similar lesions were present on gradient-echo MRI in 10 elderly control patients. These findings suggest that cerebral amyloid angiopathy might be neuroradiologically diagnosed and staged during life. NEUROLOGY 1996;46: 1751-1754
